Wildfires continue to affect communities throughout Rotary District 5060, with families being displaced, structures lost, and communities facing significant challenges as they move from immediate response toward recovery and rebuilding.
District 5060 has committed $10,000 toward wildfire disaster response and is also seeking additional support through a Rotary Foundation Disaster Response Grant. The District is encouraging clubs and members who would like to help to support trusted local organizations in affected communities.
Supporting Summerland
The Rotary Club of Summerland is accepting monetary donations to support recovery from the Bald Range Fire. Funds will be directed to trusted local organizations and areas where the need is greatest. Monetary donations can also allow local organizations to maximize their purchasing power — the Summerland Food Bank has shared that $1,000 in financial support can provide approximately $5,000 worth of products.

District Disaster Relief Committee
District 5060 is also forming a Disaster Relief Committee to help guide the District's response now and into the future. They are looking for members from across the District with different skills, experiences, and perspectives who are willing to serve for one to two years.
If you are interested in serving on the committee, or know someone who would be a good fit, please consider reaching out to the District.
As Rotary members, we have an opportunity to demonstrate Service Above Self and support our neighbours during an incredibly difficult time.
